There are advantages to having a family dentist that also practices orthodontics. Dr. Parker is knowledgeable about early interceptive orthodontics for children. The Ortho-Tain positioner appliance is a very passive and conservative positioner to help guide teeth in place. This positioner must be started at a very early age around five or six years old, but it can prevent braces by 60 to 80 percent. It can be a great way to help correct deep overbite at an early age. For children with severe crowding, we often recommend a light wire appliance called an ALF appliance at around eight to eleven years old. This helps to develop the arch and help create bone growth that the patient needs to have a full smile. We try to limit extractions of permanent bicuspids when possible.

Dr. Parker uses the Tenbrook self-ligating orthodontic system for conventional braces, this system often allows for faster treatment outcomes. Dr. Parker has been a certified Invisalign provider since early 2000. Clear aligners are a nice option because you can take them off to eat and brush, and they are nearly invisible. Many of our adult patients enjoy straightening their teeth and improving their smile and gum health with clear aligners.
